Going on Dr.Phil......
Monday January 4th 2010 I just got contacted by the Dr.Phil show.
I wrote in on a whim, Since I’m writing an auto biography about my life, I shared a portion of some of the things I struggled with in my life, my insecurities,and how I overcame them also, what I’m doing NOW to help others. And honestly, a lot of us have written in to Oprah or Dr.Phil etc what are the odds of getting a reply back? I never thought another thing of it until I received this email Monday Night.{a few days after I wrote in}
I have received your email and would like to talk to you. Your email was very compelling - If you are interested in coming on the show please answer these questions in a reply email and include a recent photo of you and your family.... and the letter goes on..
I thought it was a fake but I called the # and it connected me to a building that actually has a few show studios in it, THE DOCTORS for one, and they connected me to the Dr.Phil. show, I got verification that this email was legit. So I replied with the needed info.
My best friend here in Boise, Birdeena, grew up with a friend named Samuel Moore. Sam has a facebook account and a wife that wrote an auto-biography. Birdeena knew I was also on this path and suggested I become a “fan” of her book. So Sam became my friend on Face Book as well. I had no knowledge at the time, that his wife Melissa had been on the Dr. Phil show. She attended his “get real retreat” to figure out if she should have a relationship with her father who is in prison. Come to find out he was a serial killer.
After the show she decided maybe she should write her story. So she did, and it is “Shattered Silence” she appeared on the Oprah show along with Dr. Phil. Here is the link to her Website: http://www.melissagracemoore.com
When I learned she got a FaceBook account I added her as a friend. She has been kind and helpful with all my questions regarding my own writing.
After receiving this letter from the Dr. Phil show I knew that It would be nice to have someone who has “been there, done that” to decide if this is what I really wanted.
Tuesday morning Melissa called me {THANK YOU!} we spoke about all the stuff I’d need to know and why they do it the way they do. Etc. Boy was this a life saver!
After that call I again spoke with the Dr. Phil show on the phone, regarding the next steps they needed me to take etc. This is where I started to feel VERY un-easy about it all.
Things started to not fit together of my reasons to be on the show and what they were going to do on the show.
Tuesday Evening I spoke to another amazing friend who is also a “life coach” and an amazing person all around, she helped me make my final decision. She also has had experience with a talk show. She was very enlightening {as usual} here is her site
www.rebeccaoverson.com
so at 4:48 pm Tuesday I made the official decision to NOT be on the Dr.Phil show
He's sorta nice and all, but I question his character. I know what they really want, and It will be to hurt people's feelings. They are after ratings.{duh} That's not what I'm all about. I try to keep things that are negative, low key and focus on the positive. That is what all my speeches focus on! The facts are, it doesn't matter why I felt how I did in my life or who caused those feelings to be felt. All that matters is that I OVERCAME THEM! I will make a positive difference in lives of people MY way. Uplift, support and bare one anothers burdens this is what our Heavenly Father would want! These people want to take what I have been through, no matter how positive I’ve made it, drag it through the mud and criticize the people who are involved in my life. ALL FOR RATINGS. {duh again} It’s amazing, people subject themselves to this, and get nothing out of it, and actually in most cases, leave worse off then they were before. It’s all a façade, and who makes millions off it? Dr. Phil of course.
In the end, If a 2 paragraph letter was written on a whim, was that "compelling" as they said it was, maybe I'm on to something! MY goal will get accomplished in the way it was meant to be. A better way, My way.
Dr.Phil is not the place for me…Oprah on the other hand…just kidding…

MERRY CHRISTMAS 2009!

Dear friends and family,
Well another year has speedily gone by. And what a year it was! From January until the end of April I{Tina} was preparing for Mrs. Idaho America. Those months went really fast I was so busy! The pageant was an AMAZING experience and I am so thankful for the chance to have done that. Since I’m the type to like to try things 2 times, I decided to run again April on 2010. I think I had already set goals for myself for the year of 2010 and they certainly took precedence because the pageant just kept feeling like it was interfering with my goals for next year. Then I just got way too busy and learned the hard way that I can’t do everything, all at once. My plate was FULL! I resigned as Mrs. Western Idaho 2010 mid October. Maybe someday in a few years if I can, I will run again. After Pageant, summer came and I started to do booths at the Saturday market selling my TinyTina Creations. I also signed up with something called N.A.M.E. It’s the National American Miniatures Enthusiasts. I thought it would be a great way to market myself with the TinyTina Creations so I did booths all summer long and as of now, have almost everything up on my Etsy store online. I randomly sculpted some miniature “Poops and Turds” just to be funny and they have a little roll of toilet paper with them. Who would have thought that would be my hot seller and there would be a market for a gag gift of poop! I sold about 5 of each with in the first 3 weeks! I had to laugh. In November I started doing sculpting parties for kids and TinyTina Creations have an ad going out in the Treasure Valley Children’s Magazine in January to advertise sculpting lessons and birthday parties. This will be a fun adventure to keep me busy for the first half of next year. I also am going to try to finish my auto-biography in about 7 months. I understand that the more kids I have the worse my memory will get and the less time I will have, so I want to get it done the first half of next year. I have a few other books in mind that I want to write and I have a lot of neat people helping me along with that. I am still teaching Sunday school at the women’s jail. This is one of the large joys of my life and every time I leave, I feel like this was what I was meant to do! It is such a neat thing to be able to go into the jail and bring a little bit of hope and light and the spirit of our Heavenly Father to these women who are in there most humble state. I love them dearly and look forward to all my meetings with them, and leave learning more from them, then I thought possible.
I just got called to teach relief society, I start in January. This calling caught me a little off guard but I am VERY exited for what I may learn from this calling!
Corey finally found time to start building a new RC airplane. He is so fast at building these and makes it look so easy! He is still enjoying flying for work and Thankful everyday for his employment. I have come to accept that the airplane is “The other woman” in our life. Corey has been Teaching Elders Quorum for the past few months, he enjoys it and fears he is not a good teacher. I know how intelligent he is, and I am sure he does great. Corey works long hours and deserves to play a little more, so he received 1,000 rounds of ammo for a gun he has. I thought it would be good for him to be able to go shoot just for fun. Who knows maybe I will like it too!?
Ben turned 5 Sept 2nd He missed the school starting deadline by 1 day, well technically 3.5 hours! The deadline was sept 1st and he was born at 3:30 am on the 2nd. It was kind of crazy to learn he would not be starting school last august. He is a very intelligent kid and makes us laugh everyday. He sure knows how to tease. He will ask “where is my airplane mommy? I can’t find it anywhere?” then we look at him and he has a cowboy hat on top of his head {as usual} with the toy airplane sitting on top.
He loves to dress up like a cowboy with boots and spurs a scarf {bandana} around his neck, overalls or wranglers {cowboy pants} his gun on his hip in the holster and a big grin on his face. He dressed this way for Halloween but anyone that knows him knows this is daily attire. He is learning to read, is writing and spelling words on his own and is a GREAT artist. Ben knows almost half the United States of America on the map and can count to 100. We have a blog set up just for things all about him, his art and everything. This is my new way of “scrapbooking” its cheap, takes a few seconds and I can get it printed into a book at the end of every year. Ben still loves to build and play with Thomas the train & tracks, he can build tracks better then I can and has played with tracks pretty much everyday since he got them 3 years ago! Now Dallin loves it as well.
Our little Dallin is something else! Turned 2 on Nov 22 Talk about a bundle of cute, sweet and busy all wrapped into one. I’ve never met a kid that could get into as much trouble as fast as this kid can! MESSY MESSY MESSY! But man is he CUTE! He is so tender and snuggly, he reminds us of a little baby bear. He LOVES babies and is nothing but tender and sweet to them, he likes to play with other kids, and loves his big brother lot’s! I often find them snuggling together. Even Ben tells Dallin daily “you’re cute Dallin” Dally loves Thomas the train, Bob the Builder and Blues clues, most things Ben enjoys or did at his age. I’m thankful they are so sweet together {most of the time} and they seem to like each other regardless of how opposite they can be. You can also follow Dallins crazy adventures on his blog {listed below}
What a fun year it has been, and how thankful we are to be so blessed. There is so much need out there right now, with this economy. It is hard sometimes to remember to have JOY. Let us remember what Heavenly Father has said “And now, verily I say unto you, and what I say unto one I say unto all, be of good cheer, little children; for I am in your midst, and I have not forsaken you” D&C 61: 36
We have the gospel of Jesus Christ, what a wonderful gift and blessing this is to us. It can help us lighten our burdens and give strength through our heartaches regardless of our trials. We can ALWAYS receive comfort from a Heavenly Father who loves us unconditionally. What a wonderful time of year Christmas can be, It’s a time to remember our savior, his birth and all he sacrificed for us, so we could return to live eternally in heaven again. It’s a time of year to reconnect with loved ones. We are so thankful for the people in our lives that enrich and strengthen us daily. We look forward to hearing from you all, below is a list of our blogs so you can keep up with us all year long if you don’t already. ps. This blog will be going private the beginning of the year! email me if you want in on it!
We love you and happy new year The Mitchells Corey, Tina, Benjamin, Dallin
all blogs are linked to this one, if you look on right column there is a list

Richard Paul Evans
what a nice guy. He was in Boise today and is one talented guy! What I wouldn't give for a bit of the writing talent that he makes look so easy! It was nice to meet him and speak to him even if it was only for a moment.

Halloween 2009
Well Halloween was a big hit this year. Last year neither of my kids would even dress up, Dallin just cried when we put him in his little monkey costume he was so tired as well. Ben didn't want to dress up when it came down to it either. This year they were loving it. Ben a cowboy {he dresses like this everyday everywhere we go} and Dallin a fur trapper with moccasins. We went to the couple of neighbors across the street and then off to the church trunk or treat.
